Your training plan isn’t the problem

Eight years coaching in the WorldTour taught me the plan is the easy part. What made riders better was everything after it — the reviewing, the adjusting, the checking it's actually working. Most amateurs never get that part. That's what I coach.

If your coach isn't reviewing your training, you don't have a coach.

Intervals land in TrainingPeaks. The boxes go green. Four weeks later another block turns up, and nobody has looked at what the last one did to you.

Every athlete I coach follows a different loop: Plan. Perform. Review. Refine.

The TKC Performance Loop

How it works.

Plan. Perform. Review. Refine.

Plan. We start with a full rider performance analysis (£299 on its own, free for coaching clients) and a proper breakdown of what your target event actually demands. From there we set process goals and KPIs, built around your physiology, your lifestyle, and where you want to be.

Perform. You execute — training blocks, testing, race day. Every session has a job.

Review. We look at the numbers from training, testing and racing. Are we improving the things we set out to improve?

Refine. The next phase gets built on what the review found. What's working, what needs to change, what we plan next.

Tim spent the majority of his youth on his bike, his short time competing ended at the age of twenty due to an autoimmune disease. While this marked the end of his racing days, it quickly opened a new chapter as he discovered a passion for coaching. He has been fortunate enough to work alongside some of the world’s most respected coaches and has had the privilege of collaborating with multiple World and Olympic Champions.

Tim’s coaching philosophy centres around the athlete. He believes in focusing on the process rather than the outcome. By honing in on daily actions, the results will naturally follow. Each athlete’s journey is unique, and Tim’s approach is to support, plan and implement processes that help you reach your full potential.
